xproject is a piece of software for handling face models like CANDIDE running in UNIX environments. It is now somewhat old, and can have problems with such modern features as 24-bit graphics.

xproject handles Action Units, and background images can be loaded and copied to the model for texture mapping. Only grayscale images are supported.
xproject was implemented in C by Mårten Strömberg in 1994.
